There are more than 127million people living in Japan. Another 5 million people outside of Japan speak Japanese, too, making it the 9th most widely spoken language in the world. Japanese is not directly related to any other language (family).
Unlike other Asian languages Japanese is not tonal… pronunciation is a lot easier to master, that way.
